    How We Grade Used Vinyl Records

    We use the standard Goldmine grading scale. This gives you clear, honest information about record and sleeve condition.

    Mint

    Unplayed, still in shrink wrap (if original). No visible signs of handling or play. Record and cover are perfect.

    Near Mint

    Minimal signs of play or handling. Cover may show slight wear. Record is in excellent condition and sounds like new.

    Very Good Plus

    Noticeable signs of play and handling. Cover shows wear. Record sounds excellent with minimal surface noise. Best for listening.

    Very Good

    Visible wear on cover and record. Surface noise may be noticeable, especially on quieter passages. Still fully playable and enjoyable.

    Tips for Buying Used Vinyl Online

    Check the Photos

    Every used record listing includes photos of both record and sleeve. Look at the surface of the vinyl — that's the best indicator of play history and condition.

    Read the Grades

    We grade record and sleeve separately. A Near Mint record with a Very Good sleeve is usually a great find. Don't obsess over perfect grades if you're buying to listen.

    Check Pressing Details

    If available, we note pressing information (original vs. reissue, label, catalog number). This helps you understand if you're getting an original pressing or a later reissue.
