Northern Soul Vinyl Records UK, 60s & 70s Rare Soul 7-Inches

Northern Soul is the UK's strangest and most enduring vinyl-collector subculture, a scene built around obscure American soul 7-inches that flopped at home and became holy relics in the dance halls of Manchester, Wigan and Blackpool. Half a century on, original pressings still command premium prices and the all-nighter spirit hasn't faded.

We curate a rotating selection of original Northern Soul vinyl, 7-inch singles, the occasional rare LP, and the compilations that introduce new collectors to the canon. Every record is Goldmine-graded, inspected and cleaned before dispatch. Free UK delivery on orders over £75.

    Hunting a particular side?

We source Northern Soul titles to order rather than holding the canon on the shelf. Tell us what you are chasing and we will keep it on the wants list.

The All-Nighter Canon, Essential Northern Soul

Eight records that defined the Northern Soul scene. If you're starting a collection, this is the canon. Original pressings on the original labels are the goal, UK reissues exist but don't carry the value.

The Northern Soul Venues That Defined the Sound

Four clubs shaped what we now call Northern Soul. Each had its own DJ team, dancefloor personality and curatorial canon. The records you'll see for sale today were largely defined by what got played at these venues.

    Twisted Wheel

    Manchester · 1963–1971

The original blueprint, Roger Eagle and Les Cokell defined the soul DJ template here.

    Blackpool Mecca

    Blackpool · 1971–1979

Ian Levine and Colin Curtis pushed the scene into newer, more obscure territory.

    Wigan Casino

    Wigan · 1973–1981

The most famous Northern Soul venue. All-nighters that ended at 8am with the "three before eight".

    The Catacombs

    Wolverhampton · 1967–1974

Smaller, more underground, known for harder, faster sides ("Wigan-rejected" tunes).
