We pulled the numbers on our own live catalogue, 46,774 vinyl records in stock across 160 genres and more than 12,000 labels, to answer a simple question: what does vinyl actually cost in the UK in 2026? Here is what the data says.
The headline numbers
- Average price: £31.46. Median: £29.99. Thirty pounds is the real centre of gravity for a new or reissue LP.
- Range: £9.99 to £1,092.99. The most expensive record in stock is Bill Evans, Riverside Recordings (Analogue Productions).
- Sub-£10 vinyl is nearly extinct: just 0.9% of the catalogue. Only 23.5% comes in under £20.
£30 is the new normal
Half of all records sit at or above £29.99, which means the cheap LP is now a small minority rather than the default. If you are building a collection on a budget, it pays to shop deliberately: our records under £20 collection is where most of the value sits.
Electronic is the last affordable format
Deep house (average £22.12) and Techno (£22.64) are the cheapest sizeable genres, largely because the 12-inch single keeps prices down. At the other end, Rock (£42.49) and Soundtracks (£46.54) cost the most, driven by heavyweight reissues and box sets. You can browse the full catalogue and sort by price to see it for yourself.
